Privacy policy
Hesabi ("we") is an app for splitting bills and tracking who paid you back. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. Hesabi is run by Mohamed Samir Hassan Khalil Ibrahim, Cairo, Egypt. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address, and, if you add them, a phone number and profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email and profile photo from them; we never see your password.
- Bills you create or join: titles, amounts, currencies, items, who owes what, payment status, notes, and the receipt photos you add.
- People you add to a bill: the name, email or phone number you enter for them, so they can see and settle their share.
- Ways to get paid: your Instapay handle and other payout details you choose to share with people who owe you. Cards are saved by our payment provider, Paymob; Hesabi never sees or stores card numbers.
- Purchases: if you buy Plus, scan packs or Business, the app store handles payment; we receive a record of what you bought and when.
- Usage data: app events (for example "bill created") without personal content, to understand what works. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland we only collect this if you say yes.
- Device: a push notification token if you allow notifications, and basic technical data such as the app version.
- Phone payments (optional, Android): if you turn on "Save my phone payments", the app reads payment notifications from the apps you pick, on your phone, to create personal bills. You can turn it off at any time.
Why we use it
- To run the service: create and share bills, remind people who owe you, record payments, and show everyone the same numbers.
- To read receipts you scan and fill in the bill for you.
- To send emails you or the service trigger: sign-in codes, invitations, payment reminders and receipts.
- To keep accounts secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Who helps us run Hesabi
- Amazon Web Services (Frankfurt, Germany): hosting, database, sign-in, email delivery and storage of receipt photos.
- Google: reading receipt photos (Gemini), analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) and Google sign-in.
- Meta: Facebook sign-in.
- Paymob: saving cards and card payments.
- RevenueCat, Apple and Google Play: in-app purchases.
- Expo: delivering push notifications.
- Cloudflare: this website.
They process data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
- Receipt photos are deleted 30 days after the bill was created.
- Activity history is kept for one year; scan counts for 13 months.
- Your account and bills are kept until you delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- Download your data: in the app, Profile › Privacy › Download my data.
- Delete your account: in the app, Profile › Privacy › Delete account, or see how to delete your data. Your personal details are removed; amounts on bills shared with other people stay so their records still add up, without your name.
- Analytics: you can change your choice in Profile › Privacy.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data at [email protected].
Children
Hesabi is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
